Kenobi production drama probably overblown

According to Ewan McGregor, the story being reported about the future of the show is “…not really as dramatic as it might seem.”

Variety reports:

It was reported on Thursday that series writer Hossein Amini was no longer attached to the project as Disney wished to overhaul the scripts. The move led to pre-production in London being put on hold with the start of production delayed from August 2020 to January 2021.

McGregor added, “I think the scripts are great. They’re in really good shape. They want them to be better. I think we keep our same airdate. All good.”

Disney’s Obi Wan show is on hold…for now

According to Collider, who cites two different sources, the crew of the anticipated Obi Wan show reportedly coming to Disney+, starring Ewan McGregor, has been sent home and the production is on hold.

Last week, troubling rumors began swirling about the upcoming Disney+ series revolving around the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan McGregor is poised to reprise his role from the Star Wars prequels in a story set eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Screenwriter Hossein Amini (Drive) and director Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) were tapped to spearhead the series, and production was on pace to begin this year. These rumors hinted at potential trouble behind the scenes, and while we’re hearing the show isn’t cancelled, we are hearing that it’s been delayed.
